Vorteile

It is really designed for Vacation Rentals and has a very user-friendly functionality compared to other similar products. I love the functions with regard to financial reporting and owners. It's amazing.

Nachteile

It would be nice to be able to manage more rates in the Booking Engine and to have the possibility to translate the content ourselves as well as different languages for the system (as well as being able to change the format of the dates). The calendar and the price editing functions are good but they are missing some small details.

It's been a very bad start to be totally transparent. In addition to issues with the software and the overcharges, it's really been the absent support. I had to message an executive on LinkedIn to get anyone to respond. But they have no problem charging me (more than they're supposed to).

Vorteile

The best thing hostaway has going is it's automatic responses and integrations. With that being said, the automatic responses do NOT work on VRBO and, despite claiming to be a preferred integration partner, the process to integrate with VRBO took over 1.5 months and resulted in dozens of double bookings

Nachteile

1) Inability to integrate with VRBO / Booking.com 2) If you need help, forget about them answering the phone or returning your voicemail. One of the key selling points was their promise I could always get someone on the phone. It's been 2 months and I've called about a dozen times, not 1 single time has anyone answered or returned my call3) Automated messages don't work with VRBO. This was confirmed by both sides but not presented upfront. So you still have to manually monitor VRBO 4) Their accounting is VERY limited. You cannot invoice / charge / or easily track charges 5) Be VERY careful when you onboard, I had 26 properties but they charged me for 32. Not only have they refused to refund me for the extra 6 units, but they keep promising to get me in touch with a "VP" or "Manager" - it's been weeks, no one has contacted me.

We apologize for any issues you may have encountered during the sales process and for any overcharges you may have experienced. I've personally taken this issue up and have refunded the amount requested, even though the contract that was signed was at a higher amount so that we can hopefully move past this.

We take customer satisfaction very seriously and never intend to mislead or overcharge our customers, which is why we have contracts that are signed by both parties before any implementation starts so that both our customer and our team are on the same page.

In regards to Vrbo, unfortunately, at the time there was an issue on the Vrbo side that was creating a backlog for integrations. This has since been resolved and connections are now much quicker.

Must Have Software for STR Companies

Vorteile

Hostaway has made countless hours of financial reporting and owner statements each month turn into a matter of minutes. The customability of the software is unmatched compared to my previous PMS. Hostaway has the best customer service I have experienced in any software. They always answer of the phone and generally have the solution to help and resolve on the phone. Their onboarding experience is easy and provided by well educated staff. I worked with [sensitive content hidden] who listened well to my concerns and questions and they were always happy to meet and go over the system in detail. I would highly recommend trying to get them if you are considering onboarding with Hostaway!

Nachteile

There's very little I don't like. If I had to choose something I would say 2 things.1. The tape chart moves a little slow. It loads and has a lot of detail in it so it makes sense why, but something a littler faster loading times would be nice. 2. The website is great and looks great but the ability to add a hyperlink within it would be very useful.

I'm a property manager that ran into an issue with the [sensitive content hidden] statements. [sensitive content hidden] helped solve the bug encountered on the spot! Thank you!

Nachteile

Some features work then the next month there is an issue. For example, we have set up owners statements on a monthly basis. Each month we update to the next month's timeframe, however there could be a bug in the next month's statement. Customer service is great, but I had to wait a week to resolve. It's important for clients to have timely payouts and these issues are big kinks for payouts. It's not a good look for me and it impacts the Hostaway business if clients are not happy with software issues.

Very positive experience so far, esp with the onboarding process. [sensitive content hidden]
is a true professional, very knowledgable, very patient with my inexperience on a new platform, and always worked diligently to resolve any problems I was experiencing or questions I had during the entire onboarding process. He is an excellent representative of Hostaway and its product/service.

Vorteile

It seamlessly integrates the major STR booking platforms in one package.

Nachteile

It is a bit pricey with just 2 properties, but will become more cost efficient as we grow our STR portfolio.

Vorteile

Hostaway has made it an option to manage a significant higher percentage of properties due to the software integration with our other platforms.

Nachteile

Sometimes a fix is a bit longer than I like to wait. We do live in a microwave society so we are used to instant. Hostaway is always improving and implementing everything needed to service all of their accounts well.

New to Hostaway

Vorteile

Having Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, and our own direct booking link in one place is great. The pricing modifications between OTA's are a huge plus along with setting longer stays to be available further out is one of the features we needed. Support is great when you have questions.

Nachteile

It is pretty complex, and is taking a while to get everything set up. It isn't as easy as setting up an Airbnb, or VRBO account, But there is much more going on between the sites. Getting things all setup and learning the steps to create a reservation, change availability, and see how those changes affect what you are trying to accomplish isn't as visible as we would like. Its an amazing powerful system, and worth going through the steps to setup and learn. We have a much larger picture in mind so baby steps are being taken for our 1st 2 properties.

Futurestay was a huge disaster. It wiped out all of our notes and days we blocked off for guests and families we had our places reserved for. It was over a year before we decided to even attempt another integration.

I've had a great experience overall. The software is robust i'm just starting to understand all of the features it provides.

Vorteile

User account management is great. Allowing tasks to be assigned out to different users at different levels is very helpful. Onboarding was very helpful. Channel management is complex and there is no one system that will meet every users needs. Having dedicated, scheduled time to talk though my individual issues was great and allowed me to get moving faster at a higher quality.

Nachteile

Channel management is complex and there were a few snags in getting it setup however with the onboarding calls the issues were quickly resolved. SMS message for tasks and reservation messaging would be nice to have.

Vorteile

I have used another channels manager before and to compare to them this is the best!
I don't have any problems with synchronisation, no overbooking, that makes my life much easier ))

As well I save lot of time on messages. Because you can use automations in Hostaway.

This software is easy to use, big advantage is app for your phone.

And I would like to mention that this team is really working hard and they always improve this software, they listen you!

You don't need 80 channels to sell your apartment. Hostaway has enough channels for max occupancy rate.

Nachteile

May be would be good to make an option to copy prices for another apartment (because I have 4 same apartment in the same building), so I don't need to spend my time to make prices for similar apartments.

I love using Hostaway. It's not the cheapest product; however, it's nice to have all the features I want in one place instead of slapping together a few cheaper products to try to get the same result.

Vorteile

The thing I like most about Hostaway is the ease of use. I manage my properties while working another job, so I need automation. The automated messaging and task creation with saved checklists really saves a ton of time. My cleaner also really likes it because he can just update the cleaning tasks via the app. I really only have to answer one-off questions from guests because I'm able to seamlessly communicate everything through my automated messages.

The other great thing about Hostaway are the constant improvements and customer support. It seems there are new and improved features every month which is exciting. If there's something that could be better, it's easy to communicate with the support team and find out what I'm doing wrong or have them plan out an update. Even though the team is in a different time zone, I always get responses within 24 hours and everyone is really nice. I already love the product, but knowing that things will continually improve is what makes this product a no brainer for me to use.

Nachteile

The booking engine could look better. I used the WordPress plugin and don't love the overall look; however, I figured by the time guests get to that point on my website they're already very interested in booking and won't be turned off by the look.

Our experience with Hostaway has been very positive. We have over 30 properties being managed through the system. The cost benefit has been great and the possibility of integration with several booking channels has been a big plus.The management of guest charges and the possibility, the control and communication tools are excellent!

Vorteile

Hostaway has fast integration with all leading booking channels in the market. Exporting and importing listings is quick and simple.Furthermore, the management of formulas, charges, reports and information for properties is customizable and very dynamic.

Nachteile

When we started using Hostaway, we noticed a certain delay in getting a response to open tickets for the support team. However, from 1 month to now the waiting time has dropped drastically and it has also become easier to contact support by phone.

We've been using IGMS for a while and we've also used Guesty, and Hostaway is definitely better. Guesty, despite its size and popularity, has a somewhat rigid system and all the commercial consultants who assisted us through Guesty were not helpful!

After I read a lot of review about this software, I was confident that it wil be the best for my Hostel. Since we started with Hpstaway, we had a lot of deception. We are looking for a new software.

Nachteile

We had a price arrangement at for the first few month and it was competitive (20$/room/months). Hostaway ignor the deal that we had and start charging me 50$/rooms/months. We can not affort the new pricing and we will have to change software as soon as possible. It's terrible for us to go back and change software again because it's a lot of additionnal job for us and our employee.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with our software. We have signed contracts for every customer and I'm shocked to hear that you were charged differently than what was in your contract.

I am very satisfied , some things I think has to be clarified from the beggining .For example some part of the features of the web have difficulties with some browsers so I consider that they have to make that point since the beginning and don’t let the customer has an unnecessary problem to know that it is only a problem due to the browser . But this happens with a lot of software in the market , not only in hospitality.

Vorteile

The web is very complete and allow a lot of features.
The app is very good and friendly but has to include some other features that are only possible to use in the web . I know they are working very fast on that and will be ready soon.

Nachteile

The software is ok but as any company works on the listings differently is difficult standardize everything and export the info to all the channels in one shot , that cause a loose of time and multiple revision at the beggining and any time there are changes.

Vorteile

From the onboarding to nowadays daily use, everything has been comfortable, the support is really useful aside their help center.

Nachteile

Nowadays, my main issue is about a calendar feature, which is pricing rule set. Indeed, it's develop for Airbnb but not yet for our Booking Engine and Abritel. The product team seems working hard to launch this new step.
Finally, maybe the app could be a bit more develop. That's really to spot detail, my overall opinion is amazing.

Vorteile

Customer Service is by far superior to other PMS that I've used. Hostaway has a phone number you can call for customer support and speak with a real live human!

Nachteile

Integration was good and onboarding specialist help tremendously with this process! Vrbo is the only one that takes longer to migrate your listings, but not any fault of Hostaway.

Guesty was not an all inclusive platform unless you wanted to buy up and purchase additional modules for payment processing, accounting, and owner statements. Guesty only gave me 3 onboarding appointments at 55 minutes each for a cost $900. Hostaway allows 3 to 6 appointments if needed and much more affordable!

Generally a very good experience. There was a bit of a delay at the beginning after my introductory session to see if I wanted to proceed. I experienced a few weeks delay before they came back to me to get signed up and start the onboarding. Then the training is pretty intensive once you are allocated a trainer. I did 7 days of training in about 10 days. So be prepared to find this quite demanding. But also exciting as you see all the things you will be able to do. I was at the point of 4-5 units and had reached the absolute limit of running the business without a channel manager. At the same time, I was glad that I only had 5 units to transfer the information to Hostaway. Once I have mastered the platform a bit better, it is really going to help me to scale my business where I can take on other people's properties to manage and they will have access to the information I decide to give them on the Owner's Portal.

Vorteile

Pleasant user-friendly graphics and design of calendar, great way of looking at the financials - eg the analytic tools give you 'at a glance' on revenue, or per OTA, or % occupancy, the link to a payment API (I use Stripe), a means to add 'extras' to invoices eg luxury welcome pack, or bottle of wine.Messaging - you can do it all from the Hostaway platform (although as yet no means to add emojis if you like doing that - they are looking at it though). I believe they are integrating WhatsApp. I've only just completed my initial training (7 hours) so I only have a basic overview so far.I had a very patient trainer who ran through things with me. Just don't expect to be at expert level for a while. It takes the trainers 4 weeks to learn the system and learn how to train us, plus other internal stuff just for them. But probably up to 3 weeks of that time is learning how to operate the platform right? So 15 days at 7 hours a day? I have done 7 hours and I'm 'launched' but far from competent if I'm honest. There is amply help available though using the 'help' button on the platform. I haven't tried it yet.Be realistic, especially if you are not particularly 'techy'. One piece of advice - learn how to share your screen on Google Meetings, providing all the necessary permissions on your device, before your first training session. I wasted 20 mins of my first training session trying to get to share my screen (or 'Present') as it's called on Google Meetings.

Nachteile

I would like the main calendar (not the mobile one) to highlight the day that is 'today' in some way. A different colour, or a coloured line around the day. This would make it really easy to find when you are scrolling backwards and forwards.A small thing, but I look forward to being able to include emojis in my messaging.Overall, I think it would be useful to have more training sessions scheduled at the beginning of the onboarding. Of course you can ask anything you like, but you don't always know what you need to ask! Perhaps after a couple of weeks you have a scheduled training session so that you can go through the things you are having difficulty with. Of course, you do have the 'Help' button. But by now you are familiar with your trainer who helped at the start, and it would be good to have a principal person to assist rather than going into the pot with any 'Help' operative.

Very poor customer support and no response for months

I terminated my contract with hostaway almost 6 months back, as the customer service never responded to an emails or tickets raised for day to day troubleshooting. I emailed customer service multiple times for a single issue and never got any response from customer service, then had to email the sales consultant who signed me up for hostaway, finally got some response. As per customer service they were short of staff and were recruiting people and then training them, due to which they couldnt respond. I was extremely upset with the entire experience and complete lack of customer service, and finally decided i couldnt take this anymore and moved onto another software UPLISTING. Hostaway is an excellent software, superb functionality and the best mobile app, its such a shame there customer service and support is just horrendous, even a simple query doesnt get answered and no telephone number to contact on.I emailed Hostaway about my entire experience also and nobody bothered to even contact me and look into the issue.

Now that I am up and running I enjoy it. There are definitely things that I wish that it did for me that are not offered, but the team takes suggestions and I hope to see these features developed in the future.

I had a rough start with Onboarding and getting started using the software. Once I worked with [sensitive content hidden] to set up my system including formulas, I was able to feel confident using the software. She is very knowledgeable and can answer any question that I have. [sensitive content hidden] is a great communicator as well as a great mentor to help set up the software and train users how to use it successfully.

Nachteile

I did not like my start up/ going live with Hostaway. It was very intimidating and my listings were not set up properly and then I was in a crisis to try to fix them after going live. I would have liked to pay an onboarding specialist to set the software up specifically for our business and train us how to use it. I feel as though I spent a year doing this process during which time I had buyers remorse about this purchase. Now I am about 18 months in, and I am just getting to being able to use all of the features of the software as far as them being set up correctly and knowing how to utilize them.

Honestly, the first two months were incredibly rough. The Airbnb side was fantastic, but the VRBO side just wouldn't link because I was never walked through the process. My original guy basically disappeared after my initial sessions when I had to relist all my VRBO cabins to separate them from my prior co-host. I was never able to get with an actual person for two months after that until [sensitive content hidden] intervened on my behalf after a follow up interview. He set me up with [sensitive content hidden], another Coach, which walked me through the entire program to make sure everything was right on my end. [sensitive content hidden] was a life saver!! I had tried to wing so many things on the program because I wasn't given proper instruction, but [sensitive content hidden] fixed them and showed me how to do them right! I don't feel incompetent anymore behind the wheel of this program and like I am just fumbling along. He saved me from making some serious costly mistakes. Thank you [sensitive content hidden]!! You are awesome!

He went over every single part of the program, and almost bent over backwards to fix my issues. This is wonderful program if it works right and is set up right! [sensitive content hidden] made that possible for me, and he made me a happy customer! Thanks [sensitive content hidden]!

Nachteile

The Help desk function. If you need help and request it it sends in a ticket. You have to wait to get assistance. So far every time I did this I received an email from someone with an article and some videos telling me how to fix the issue instead of a real live call or person when I actually needed it. This caused a two month delay on my onboarding process.

Vorteile

Streamline and automate messages and booking platforms. I have had some great support agents, such as [sensitive content hidden]. Today she helped train and sort out my owner payouts, like it should have been done 5 months ago.

Nachteile

Set up was very rough. On boarding was rushed and many things were not taught to us. We lost thousands of dollars and spent a lot of time fixing mistakes that could have been solved had we been properly trained. It was our first time using PM software therefore it was all new to us. Examples of things that were not trained or showed to us when onboarding: 1. Setting up taxes. Airbnb and vrbo automatically did this for us therefore we were not told we needed to add this in hostaway. Taxes were not being collected on vrbo reservations. 2. We were not told that vrbo would no longer collect and remit on our behalf and that we needed to set up a stripe account and charge our customers from here on out. 3. We were not told that existing reservations on vrbo would not transfer to hostaway and that we needed to automatically add them in therefore we had 11 double bookings come in before we caught it. 4. We were not properly set up and shown how to make owner payouts and financial statements. 5. vrbo needs to step up their game and allow for easier integration. Airbnb was a breeze, vrbo was an old clunky truck that hadn't had an oil change in 5 years. It was not just hostaway that poorly executed the integration with vrbo, it was vrbo too. I feel that if hostaway has the option to integrate with vrbo, these items should be CLEARLY outlined and communication in the front end to avoid problems. Needless to say the ball was dropped and we felt like we were thrown to the wolves.
