What I most like about it, is the pricing model per Host instead of VM, it is very similar to the competitor, but has better pricing, its easy to try before buying, it is super intuitive to set it up, you don't even need to read the how to documentation, because is is really easy to use.

Some times the Altaro Services drops or Backups stops working (don't understand exactly why) SO You have to contact support (that is excellent and immediate) to solve it. This is the only reason we have been paying for the continuous support.

Easy of use. It take some time to learn the software schema, but after that, it is very easy to use on the day to day experience.

Support is almos informal. There is a ticket number, but the follow up is poor. Chat is almost always offline. About disk space, the backups keep groing indefenitely, even if the VM has not much updates. The optimization tool to recover space does not work properly, takes too long to execute, while it runs, it blocks ALL backups funcionality and at the end there is almost no space freed. There is no limit for backup space per VM or per storage. You need to always keep following up the disk usage. There is no support for ReFS, what is a shame for a software that runs on Windows Servers and ReFS has been around for a while already.

The software is easy to use and fully automated. The continuous protection and replication features to an offsite server are included and fantastic. We are able to have complete system image backups to another location, all within Altaro.

Sometimes the error messages are not very helpful, but the support from altaro is great, and they are always on hand to assist if needed right from within the product.

Quick and easy to install and configure.

Not much, but being unable to shrink backup-set files after removing data is becoming a problem.

- Easy to deploy and manage, the CMC (Cloud Management Console) is really fantastic and hard to beat.
- Can initiate backups and restores from cloud, and get robust and detailed history/info on usage metrics as well as standard history logs for daily backup activity (ability to filter down on specific clients is another big plus).
- Boot from backup is also amazing, cant imagine going without it now, makes testing backups fast and easy.
- Really impressive compression and deduplication

Fair per-VM pricing is what sold us - easy flat model for our customers to understand

Occasional errors in backups (these generally correct on their own though, self healing backup chain), not FIPS compliant unfortunately

The majority of the time it works without any human intervention at all. It has lots of management tools for storage.

Sometimes it has minor issues with backups failing and no error messages.

VM Backup has all the best features we need as a business for data backup and virtualization. We have not had major issues with VM Backup

I never thought that i'll be able to have a backup up and running in under 15 minutes.
The GUI is neat and tidy and self-explanatory in most parts that it is very satisfying working with Altaro VM Backup.
It doesn't take much to convince customers into choosing Altaro - most of the time a trial is more than sufficient.
There's just so much Altaro has to offer - sandbox restores, boot from backup even replication and offsite storage ...

The only, minor thing i'd have on my wishlist would be better reporting capabilities like: "storage used per VM backup", "Error reports" etc.

The MSP pricing is excellent compared to all others and very simple to get my head around. Simply buying a license per server backed up is much easier than worry about cost per GB and cost per CPU core that some others think is normal.

On the MSP dashboard managing hosts regards licencing is a little tedious and confusing. Simply converting an existing installation from the 2 guest to MSP version is a hassle and not obvious how to do without a lot of trial and error to work it out.

Very simple to deploy and manage. It performs the main function of backup and restore without the many unnecessary complexities of many of its competitors.

Accidentally allowing a backup location to fill will result in loss of back chain.

The dashboard is easy to use and if you do get stuck, you can have instant access to the chat to resolve any issues with Altaro support desk.

Sometimes you do get stuck and would like Altaro staff just to remotely connect and resolve the problem rather than requiring you to resolve the problem yourself.

The main positive is support, it is amazingly quick and the agents are helpful.

The speed and data compression is also very good.

Very limited for physical server backups. Its essentially a P2V but still works.

The simple setup and configuration of the product, along with the robust recovery and retention features.

My only gripe with the product is the speed at which backups take, however io understand as to why with the advanced de-duping but it is an issue sometimes.

We are a medium-size organization with Altaro installed on 6 hyper-v hosts. Experience has been great with Altaro when it comes to backups of all our VMs and restoring data/files. Very easy setup and administration even a nontechie can get this set up in less than 15 minutes. GUI is very intuitive and gives you all the information required. Cloud management console makes it easier to manage and receive alerts from anywhere. Support is great and always very helpful in resolving issues promptly. 5 stars!!

Little sensitive to storage device errors. However, nothing to concern about as it usually gives you plenty of information to troubleshoot the issue. Support is great from Altaro in resolving them quickly and efficiently.

i discover altaro 10 years ago, i thanks god i select it as a primary backup for all my customer. In every critical moment i was sure i have a backup and when i need to recover a virtual machine it works in 100% of the cases.

in a few ocasions the virtual machine create some unnecessary files.
