Best in class code editor for my life

VS Code is really the best option I've seen for programming and as far as I've seen, its the most powerful tool out there. It can create almost every type of projects and supports a lot of languages. Also, one thing I would like VS Code to do, is to create their own terminal make it uniform so that any user can use it for any environment and can run Linux commands too in a windows machine.
Vorteile
Since I started using VS Code, my programming life has never been the same! What I like most about this editor is its incredible versatility. It has a lot of programming languages. I can switch between languages quickly. Also, it has an extensive library of extensions. From the smallest indentation extension to code debugger helper. It has everything a programmer would need. Also, the community support is great. All the docs help me so much. It has everything that other code editors don't have. Helping in syntax errors, line errors, etc. It is a powerful and a strong tool for developers.
Nachteile
The thing I hate about VS Code is that it has a lot of things at the setup and was tiring. I had to watch many videos and docs to ensure everything was ready to go. Not a single-click setup option. Also, sometimes, the extensions are not updated. I have to manually update them. And sometimes it crashes which is very frustrating.

For a while I had a great experience with VS Code until one of their updates messed up the terminal feature. I had an ever worsening experience as I went to report the bug and got zero help. Nothing they told me to do worked, not to mention they were extremely unconcise so I had to ask a lot of questions or just figure it out, and then advised me to uninstall features I didn't even have. Oh and proceeded to close the conversation without even waiting for a reply. Very unprofessional.
[SENSITIVE CONTENT]
Vorteile
Its good for writing code and organization. Very good visibility and hub for features.
Nachteile
A massive blemish in this software would be its bugs. I currently am not able to use their terminal function in any fashion. No debugging no nothing. It will flash pull up and then terminate and shoot me an error. That's a pretty large mess up on their end more so because they won't solve it. I need to be able to use this terminal for my code otherwise vscode in entirety is useless to me. I can go to some other product that has other features that are way better.

It is helping me create and edit scripts that are part of my everyday tasks. It gives me a robust and secure tool with options to test the code before implementation in a live environment.

What I like the most about VS Code is the number of extensions and the possibility of writing my extension for a specific purpose. It makes Visual Studio extremely useful in some cases where standard coding is not enough.
Nachteile
I don't like the graphic interface of VS Code. For me, it is too many things I don't use and not too many things I would like to have. I think the side menu could be improved with more practical options and buttons.

From the moment I installed and started VS Code, it's been an incredible journey. At least once a month, I find another use for VS-Code through an extension or via a blog post on how to use it more efficiently. It's helped with coding/scripting and general text manipulation. Editing CSV files, aligning text columns, syntax highlighting for every language and file format you can think of. It's light weight and works on any computer/operating system. It's ideal for use on multiple computers. It just works and I've never had ANY issues or crashes with it.
Vorteile
Out of the box the editing features are fantastic, including regex find and replace and multi-select. Adding to this you can customise and extend VS Code with thousands of different extensions for all your text manipulation needs. Code prediction, syntax highlighting and so much more. The ability to sync all your settings to the cloud makes things easy when moving between machines.
Nachteile
There is absolutely nothing I dislike about the software. It's so customisable that you can make it work how you need it to.

Overall it's a great IDE for software developers. I use it every day and love it. It's the best IDE I can use for free with lots of functionalities.
Vorteile
It supports a multitude of programming languages with a lot of plugins to make our programming easier. Its lightweight compared to other IDE available. There are many plugins to choose from and various themes available to make the code editor the way I wanted and other personalization features. It has git integration and also I can run multiple terminals within with splitting too. It's cross-platform so I use it in both Windows and Ubuntu. I can find different plugins to support the Intelligent Code Completion so it makes my learning and programming faster and easier. Also, it's very good for debugging my codes. Also, it's free and better than any other paid options available. Search and Replace feature is my highly used feature where sometimes i have to replace the same texts in multiple files and this feature comes to the rescue to save my time.
Nachteile
One thing I don't like is when I delete a file in a project, VS Code doesn't warn me if it's referenced in other files in the project. It hangs when I try to open a large CSV file. Sometimes the automatic code completion doesn't work for me.

Best for small businesses and teams working, especially for websites and web apps. Lighter on your budget and computer system resources. You get a library full of extensions/plugins enhancing features. User-friendly interface together with simple settings configuration. Fully personalized it according to the color scheme, coding language, and feature needed. I highly recommend it as a good package tool for full-stack web developers and programmers.
Vorteile
I have been using MS Code to write and edit for web development and wordpress.t's very light on resources compared to full IDE's and available for multiple platforms OS. Small initial package to download and install. So it's being used for mostly web coding tasks in languages like Html, JS, CSS, and PHP. Community support is very great coming with new features and extensions with new updates. Documentation and many tutorials are available to learn it. The best features that I like in this code editor are syntax highlighting, error checking and IntelliSense.Lot's of extensions provided novel functionality. From theme to the language it is can be personalized to much extent.
Nachteile
Some extensions show internal conflict due to accessing the same part of API. Should handle conflicts efficiently. Debugging is sometimes a little bit confusing. More features like support for the desktop framework should be added like ASP.NET MVC Application.

Since I'm studying for a Computer Science degree, VS Code has helped me tremendously with my studies. It has eliminated the need to use multiple text editors or IDEs and provided a single, powerful editor from which I can code.
Vorteile
The huge abundance of extensions really provides users with what they need. You can keep it simple and vanilla or customize the way you use VS Code to suit your specific needs. The quality of these extensions is also great and installing them is as simple as clicking "Install". Sometimes VS Code is smart enough to recognize the programming language you're working with and intelligently provides a recommendation to install supporting extensions.
Having version control via GitHub, already built into VS Code is also a super useful feature.
Nachteile
Changing settings can be a bit difficult. There is a Command Palate where you can search for settings to change, but I find the use of it a bit daunting and I can understand if newcomers also find this a difficult but necessary tool to learn.

It is simply an amazing tool and It helped me very much while developing and debugging big data pipelines. It is very fast and I also like that it enables to connect with GitHub without having to use the command line to update/version control the code in github.

Very fast during startup. I like the option that it enables you to open multiple projects in different windows at once. The code editor is simply amazing as we can view multiple files at once. The debugger is the most interesting part for me, as VS code really helped me to debug big data pipelines where no other tool I found can be used that simply. The new "Data Viewer" option is also amazing to look into tables or any SQL tables in vs code. Simply it saves lot of time by providing automatic code suggestions, linter..

Revolutionizing Coding for CS Students: A Review of Visual Studio Code

I would rate my overall user experience of VS Code very highly - it is a powerful and versatile text editor that can be easily adapted to a wide range of coding projects. The flexibility and customization options provided by the software make it a valuable tool for coding projects, and the built-in debugging and integrated terminal features make it a great choice for development work. The various extensions available for different programming languages and tools are also very useful. While it can be resource-intensive and managing extensions can be a bit of a challenge, these downsides are outweighed by the benefits of using the software. I would highly recommend it to other students in the field!
Vorteile

The ability to customize the interface and add various extensions for different programming languages and tools makes it a valuable tool for coding projects. Additionally, the built-in debugging and integrated terminal features make it a great choice for development work!
Nachteile
A potential downside I found as a user, is that it can be resource-intensive, particularly when running multiple extensions at once. This may cause slower performance on lower-spec computers (which was my case during the first years of uni). Another potential issue is that it can be difficult to manage and organize the large number of extensions that are available, as well as keep them updated. I could also say that the initial learning curve is a bit steep, but it can definitely be overcome with time and patience.

I use it for frontend development. Ever since I started using it, I fell in love with it. It is easy to customize, has great options (colored brackets that just hit with the latest update are a life saver!) and is a treat to use. It makes coding a more enjoyable activity than it already is. It is great for beginners as well, as my wife has started coding and is finding her way around VSC with ease. I use it on a more professional level, and all the websites I made in last four years were built in VSC.
Vorteile

Not your average text editor

I am mainly a web developer so even though I installed other IDEs to code in Java, most of the time I use VSCode. I've been using it since my very first days of programming and it is a very good text editor especially for novices. I found the plugins very helpful as I can be very picky when it comes to the appearance of my IDE. It has formatters as well which you could configure to autorun on every save which is very helpful to have readable code.
Vorteile
Even though VSCode is just a text editor thanks to its huge repository of extensions, it could be really powerful. It has a marketplace for all extensions that could be easily accessed and where you could find support for many languages. It is easily customizable and very user-friendly. What I liked most about it was that the user interface was very intuitive and the plugins made the application very easily customizable. I was able to use it for a large number of languages such as Python, Node, React, c++ and so on. I do not like using many different text editors or IDEs based on the project or language, so VSCode's ability to support many languages even if not natively but thanks to the plugins, came in handy. VSCode now supports live share where you could easily do things like pair programming within the application itself and would not require screen sharing from some meeting. In addition, it also now allows you to ssh into a remote server and access its files from VSCode which comes in very handy in deployment.
Nachteile
Even though I did use it for many different languages, I did have some trouble setting it up to use for SpringBoot and c++. Using it with C++ was mainly an issue with Windows and not VSCode itself. SpringBoot required many plugins and quite a bit of meddling with so I opted to go with a different IDE for Java-based projects. For bare bone coding that does not require much setup, VSCode is good but not so for things like SpringBoot.

I started coding in 2011, i used notepad first then notepad++ then tried atom and sublime editor but after that there was a gap, i remember even if i had static html files, or css files i used Microsoft Visual studio to edit them when there was no VSCode. When it came out i tried it and unlike others it became my only code editor, i even made it an IDE by adding many useful extensions to it. It actually makes you feel that you are a developer, it has all the features there, the command line makes it classic but its the fun. It has a vast community with thousands of free extensions out there out which you pick your useful ones. I will say its a complete code editor and if you are using Linux you don't need big IDE's as it will cover you up.
The updates are sometimes frequent but i will say its negligible thing to look for. VSCode is a need for every developer and it fulfills it in best way!
Vorteile
-Thousands of extensions.
-Seamless installation of extensions without scratching your head.
-Lot of free themes to choose from.
-Control over every bit, you can automate stuff and you can configure almost any option and feature in it.
-Large community continuously developing extensions and updating them.
-Best UI in all code editors(i used till now)
-Small size, lightweight and fast.
-Easy way of adding new files etc, very interactive filters and search and replace.
-You don't need to open properties and change file extension you just name it there from the editor when you create the file.
-Side by side code windows is one of the lovely features too.
Nachteile
It sometimes opens up on monitor at weird places where you don't have access to it top navbar to move it to a better location, the top is out of the view, its definitely a small bug but it needs to be fixed.
it should have a confirmation window on some important tasks like deleting a file, exiting code etc, i think it might have it but i have overlooked them in configuration but by default it should be set to positive.

Full-featured, user friendly IDE

Visual Studio Code does it's job as an integrated development environment very well. I use it every single day and it makes the task of editing code as painless as it can be. It's highly configurable and there are thousands of extensions available for getting even more from it.
Vorteile
The first great thing you'll notice about Visual Studio Code (or vscode) is how easy it is to install and configure. Users of Windows, Mac OS and most Linux distributions will find easy-to-use installers on the website, while other distributions often have their own packaged versions available in distribution-specific package managers.
After installing vscode, if you open a file type that has extensions available, vscode recommends an extension to install and manages the install process for you. I work with Go; vscode has very good support for working with .go files (with the help of a few extensions). Installing and using linters, formatters and debugging tools are all taken care of.
Extensions are another big positive - there must be thousands available, covering things like support for different programming languages, spellchecking, changing the theme of the entire app, integrations with other development tools, and plenty more that I haven't thought of.
Of course, the main job of an integrated development environment (IDE) like vscode is to make coding easier, and vscode does good job of this. As well as support for the standard text editing features that you'd expect from any tool, vscode provides extra features to help programmers, such as jumping to definitions of a function, automated refactoring, snippets, editing with multiple cursors, and more.
Oh, and vscode is free, for private or commercial use.
Nachteile
I really don't have much negative to say about this software. It does its job fantastically, and I use it every day.
I would say that support may not be on the same level as you would expect from an enterprise level support contract, since it's free software, but I have also never needed support. The team developing vscode are also constantly introducing new features and improving old ones.

IntelliSense surely helped increasing productivity due to the code completion and the embedded terminal helped my workspace be a bit more organized with 1 less window to have to manage. I was already low on space due to all the software I required to make a multiplayer game.
Since the plugins were so incredibly easy to install that saved some time as well.
Sadly as I wrote in the Cons, after a while the application started experiencing stutters and all the productivity advantages diminished considerably to the point where I had to move away from Visual Studio Code.
It is worth checking it out however, and I shall do that as well, since the updates are rolling so often, the issue might have been fixed.
Vorteile
Visual Studio Code was my preferred code editor for writing JS and Typescript for a long time. The amount of customizations available is amazing and the plugins created by the community are great! The best thing about the plugins is that they are kept up to date which is very important once you start getting used to using them. Also the plugins are super easy to install from their integrated plugin manager UI.
IntelliSense (code completion plugin) was another big plus for me when working with VS Code because other free alternatives lack such a feature.
Inside the VS Code's main window you can also open terminal frames, quite helpful especially if you're debugging servers so you won't have to split your screen.
Being a Visual Studio user even before utilizing VS Code I appreciated the consistency of the themes available. Of course you can customize them if needed.
Last but not least, updates are rolling really fast so that's always a good sign when choosing long lasting software.
Nachteile
After using Visual Studio Code for a while I noticed that the application would start having small freezes so I started disabling a lot of features and plugins but to no avail.
The next thing I removed was the integrate terminal and not even this fixed the problem.
The last thing I removed was the IntelliSense which at that point made the software quite useless as this was one of the best features it had compared to other free alternatives.
Even without IntelliSense on it was still having small freezes and was generally laggy so I reinstalled it only to find the issue appearing after a few days.
The console terminal was a bit weird as a friend of mine was using it as well and he was explaining how to clear the console using a specific button, a specific button which would only appear every now and then. I still have no idea why that button was not permanently in the designated position.
I also was missing a fast zoom in and out feature without having to increase the font size, feature available in the Atom code editor for example.

My experience with VS Code is the best possible.
I use the IDE for editing Web Designer, such as HTML, Javascript and CSS.
I am also studying the Python language and the program suits me very well, I can import several libraries to improve my knowledge.
Due to its high customization, I left the program with my face, making it easier in my day-to-day and leaving me fascinated by its practicality and robustness.
The software makes my workday and studies too difficult.
Vorteile
Visual Studio Code is an indispensable IDE for all programmers, from the beginner to the advanced level.
With several libraries, plugins and tools, VS Code makes it easy to create, edit and improve codes.
All technology professionals can benefit from VS Code, as the program can be used in several programming languages, from Java, Python, HTML, Javascript and many others.
With the help of the terminal, we can execute the codes in real time, and do all the tests, reviews and improvements in the code and its structure.
The fact that it is a Microsoft program is fundamental, because in addition to the support, the program is always updated with specific corrections improving its performance, in addition to the possibility of logging in with the Microsoft account, thus being able to access all the plugins, themes and tools that have been customized. by the user.
We can highlight several positive factors:
- Free software;
- Excellent support;
- Extremely customizable;
- Possibility to login with Microsoft account;
- Compatible with several programming languages;
- Extremely light, not requiring large hardware resources;
- Vast library that can be imported to help the user;
- Several plugins that streamline and facilitate programming;
- Highly customizable;
- Very stable program, it hardly locks or has errors.
Anyway, VS Code is a wonderful tool and possibly the best IDE on the market. Free, robust and complete. I love VS Code.
Nachteile
I don't see any weaknesses in the VS Code.
Due to its high compatibility, and a vast community that contributes to the development of various plugins and tools, IDE remains always up to date and meeting the demand of the programming market.
Perhaps the only negative point is the lack of translation into Portuguese as my native language.
Virtually the VS Code is perfect in my view.
