The ideas presented and the problems that SchoolPass is setting out to solve are problems that need a solution. Ultimately using SchoolPass is still probably better than keeping track of everything manually, but the system has so much more potential and capacity to be truly good. > > **Nachteile**: There are many details that are either intentional choices or have been left unresolved that make the overall experience hard to enjoy, especially in the light of how expensive the product is. They give the admins a surprisingly limited amount of customization options and force you to reach out to reps if you want to toggle certain options on or off or make things required or not. It would benefit both parties to simply provide all of the available options to the admin user and then train them once on how to use them rather than forcing so many contacts to customize the product. Portions of the product were also simply oversold - specifically its ability to integrate with certain SIS programs. The app itself also struggles to keep up with changing iPad technology and crashes more frequently than I'd expect it to. There are many details about areas such as dismissal queue, parent notifications, and reporting that don't always make a lot of sense such as the dismissal queue forcing you to add students to it even when the SchoolPass software is aware that they are absent for the day or left early. Currently, the browser interface for the product is a bit on the inconvenient side. There is an older and newer "view" for the browser interface. Much of the functionality of the program has been migrated over to the newer view, however not all of it has. Knowing which view to use for what you'd want to accomplish can create a lot of searching for the right options. > > While ultimately the product is probably better than doing things manually, I wouldn't say it has saved us much in the way of time or work, but simply shifted the same amount of work to something that is more trackable and reportable, which, while beneficial, isn't the entirety of what we were expecting from the product . I do think if there is more development work put into it, that SchoolPass' quality will be more fully realized at some point in the future, which is my hope. While I have only dealt with primarily one rep, he does seem willing to help, it's just that for many of these details or issues there aren't really answers to provide or solutions to offer. It simply is the way that it is and we have to work with it. I do think this is a very expensive SAAS offering for what it does currently. If you're considering using it, I'd definitely make sure that the SIS you use is FULLY supported and weigh the cost vs time savings here because so far for us, I'm not confident in saying that the time savings/workflow optimization has been realized enough to justify the cost of the product. I'm cautiously hopeful that as the product is developed that balance will be achieved. ----- ### "Better communication and safety" — 5.0/5 > **alifah** | *13.
